Introduction

Hello, my name is Brittney Robertson. I am from Brandon, Manitoba Canada. I am currently in my second semester here at Valley City State University as a freshman. I am earning my degree in elementary education and undecided on my minor. I earned a scholarship in softball here at VCSU.
You may find yourself wondering what exactly is the definition of a reality show? A reality show is a type of genre that is an unscripted with either humorous or dramatic situations. There are many shows that you might have not even known they were reality sitcoms. I sometimes find myself being sucked into the television when these dramatic reality shows come on but in other cases I find some of these shows absolutely ridiculous. A couple of my favorite reality shows are Jon and Kate plus 8, Extreme Make-over: Home Edition and the Hills.
Jon and Kate plus 8 show plays on the channel TLC. Jon and Kate Gosselin originally have a set of twins born in the year 2000 but four short years later sextuplets arrive. This show follows the Gosselin family around their everyday life experiences. I find it very interesting seeing the Gosselin family trying to cope with having eight children you can definitely see the difficulties with having that many children but they make best of what they can do. I also enjoy watching Extreme Make-over: Home Edition because I love watching people renovate houses and fix them up for a good cause. The things those families go through are horrible and heartbreaking and the types of lives they live are sad and to help them make their live better is amazing. The Hills is another show I tend to get sucked into, even though you know what is usually going to happen I still watch it. The Hills is a life-drama setting with “high-class” girls and new drama they are experiencing with their jobs or even other girls.

  1. I like reality television shows, but I do agree with you that sometimes they end up being a little ridiculous. Jon and Kate Plus 8 is one of my favorites because I think it is amazing how Jon and Kate can handle all the children and still be relaxed and enjoy life. After so long in one day, I would be so worn out and tired from dealing with eight kids. Extreme Makeover Home Edition shows that people can make a difference in other people’s lives. It is a very inspiring show. I like watching The Hills because it just makes me laugh on how much drama they go through in one day. Since all of these shows are such big hits, I wonder if they will ever stop airing.

  2. I am way too into reality shows! I watch Jon and Kate Plus 8 also, and I find it absolutely amazing that they can deal with that many kids! I can't even handle babysitting. There's just something about watching reality shows that gets to you, maybe just the chance to get some insight into someone else's live draws viewers in, and keeps them appalled. I am also a Hills fanatic. There's a lot in it that I can relate to, and it's kind of funny to watch just because some of it seems so staged.
